About ALN
Animal Liberation Network is a community of animal rights activists on the Fediverse. It was one of the earliest Mastodon instances created in 2016, but went offline for 2 years due to database corruption. In 2019 it was restored and now runs hourly database backups.
The purpose of this site is to organize animal activists without reliance on exploitative social media platforms like Facebook. ALN represents tech independence for animal rights activists.
Site rules
Please refrain from:
- Posting anything illegal.
- Intentionally creating multiple accounts to circumvent people blocking you.
- Explicit hate-based racism, sexism, and other hateful speech, but generally unpopular opinions voiced respectfully will be fine.
- Being a bot (unless you post unlisted and do not auto-follow).
- Any account setup solely to advertise a product or service.
- NSFW without a content warning.
What won't get you banned:
- Hurting someone's feelings.
- Anything that can be solved by a personal block.
- Cursing.
- Lewd jokes.
- A bot where all posts are unlisted.
Unavailable content
Mastodon generally allows you to view content from and interact with users from any other server in the fediverse. These are the exceptions that have been made on this particular server.
Media files from these servers will not be processed or stored, and and no thumbnails will be displayed, requiring manual click-through to the original file:
